Crystallised Fruit
Ukrainian Sunflower Honey
Crystallised fruit, candied fruit or glacé fruit, is whole fruit, smaller pieces of fruit, or pieces of peel, which are placed in heated sugar syrup. This will then absorb the moisture from within the fruit and eventually preserve it.
Crystallised fruits are great for adding flavour and texture to mixes such as mueslis, or an exciting addition to porridge and baked treats. Alternatively, you can simply snack on them by themselves if you are after something delectably sweet.
Try using our tangy crystallised ginger in your homemade biscuits or cakes, or incorporate it into your savoury dishes, too, to add in a fiery kick. Widely renowned for its anti-nausea properties, crystallised ginger could also help relieve symptoms from things such as travel sickness.
Try our crystallised papaya and pineapple in similar ways. Excellent sprinkled on to your morning cereal for a welcome hint of sweetness and can be an interesting way to add more flavour into some savoury dishes. Alternatively, you can add them into your favourite trail or nut mix to give it extra flavour and texture.
Thinking of baking a nice, rich fruitcake, or a Christmas pudding? Our chopped candied mixed peel is great for this. A zingy blend of citron, orange, and lemon is sure to bring some extra flavour to your cake or pudding. Why not use it also as an ingredient to make your own mincemeat this Christmas, and have a go at making your own mince pies?
Crystallised fruits have so many different, exciting ways they can be used. Add some to your basket today and see what tasty things you can make at home or have a look online for plenty of recipes and inspiration. Just remember that they’re high in sugar like any sweet treat, so they are best enjoyed in moderation.
