Healthy snacks for Christmas!

Christmas snacks

With Christmas just a few weeks away, many people are already starting to make their preparations for the festive season.
Food and drink are clearly hugely important at this time of year, and during this period of general indulgence it’s always nice to have plenty of tasty treats to hand. And, in fact, snacks can be useful in a number of ways:

1.) They give you something to offer guests as soon as they arrive – and can keep you going if you’re having a late Christmas lunch or eating later than usual at other points in the run-up to the big day when you’re rushing around.
2.) If you have some healthy snacks before heading to the office party, you’re less likely to arrive feeling peckish and then hit the sausage rolls and mince pies.
3.) Some seasonal treats and snacks are so closely associated with Christmas that it’s hard to imagine this time of year without them. They complete the festive period and its traditions.
4.) On days when you just fancy a break from cooking (and we all have them), break out a choice of snacks with some nice bread and cheeses and a seasonal tipple or two and you have an instant, delightful meal.
5.) If you’re not serving a sit-down meal, a good line-up of bite-sized morsels always goes down well with drinks.
The good news is that Yuletide nibbles don’t have to be disastrous for the waistline. And if you make a few sensible snacking choices, you can limit the impact of any over-indulgence.
That’s not to say you can’t enjoy a few chocolates or snaffle the odd mince pie. But, this year, why not go for some options that are better for you, and commit to sourcing your seasonal treats responsibly?

What Christmas snacks do we do at Ganesha Wholefoods?

At family-run Ganesha Wholefoods, we’ve been in the business of healthy eating since 1979. You can shop online or at one of our three stores across Devon – in Axminster, Sidmouth and Honiton.

And if you’re pushing the boat out with extensive entertaining, you can buy some of our products, including walnuts and Brazil nuts as well as some of our dates and prunes, in bulk, saving time and money. Additionally, many of our items are from leading brands like Doves Farm.

Much of our extensive line-up of high-quality goods lends itself excellently to festive snacking, including:

  • Walnuts, whole almonds and Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, whole cashews, organic walnut pieces and sunflower seeds
  • Organic sultanas and raisins, pitted dates, whole prunes plus Turkish figs and medjool organic dates as well as mango strips
  • Tahini for spreading on toast or for raw vegetable dipping
  • Doves digestive biscuits for elevenses – tasty but simple as a counterpoint to the richer seasonal treats
  • Flours from Wessex Mill if you’re baking your own goodie

We also have products like Ukrainian sunflower honey and porridge oats or deluxe muesli for leisurely family festive breakfasts or when hosting overnight guests, alongside toasted wheat flakes, pumpkin seeds, oatbran and more. (Not to mention our selection of refreshing Pukka and Clipper teas.)
You can find some of these items on our sales page. Finally, some of our items, including our presentation boxes of medjool dates plus our aromatherapy range, make ideal gifts.

Browse our website and order online – we offer free shipping on baskets worth £40 or more, plus our wood pulp packaging suits home composting.
Alternatively, pop into one of our three branches or get in touch if you have any queries about any of our products; we’ll be pleased to help.
