With Christmas just a few weeks away, many people are already starting to make their preparations for the festive season.
Food and drink are clearly hugely important at this time of year, and during this period of general indulgence it’s always nice to have plenty of tasty treats to hand. And, in fact, snacks can be useful in a number of ways:
1.) They give you something to offer guests as soon as they arrive – and can keep you going if you’re having a late Christmas lunch or eating later than usual at other points in the run-up to the big day when you’re rushing around.
2.) If you have some healthy snacks before heading to the office party, you’re less likely to arrive feeling peckish and then hit the sausage rolls and mince pies.
3.) Some seasonal treats and snacks are so closely associated with Christmas that it’s hard to imagine this time of year without them. They complete the festive period and its traditions.
4.) On days when you just fancy a break from cooking (and we all have them), break out a choice of snacks with some nice bread and cheeses and a seasonal tipple or two and you have an instant, delightful meal.
5.) If you’re not serving a sit-down meal, a good line-up of bite-sized morsels always goes down well with drinks.
The good news is that Yuletide nibbles don’t have to be disastrous for the waistline. And if you make a few sensible snacking choices, you can limit the impact of any over-indulgence.
That’s not to say you can’t enjoy a few chocolates or snaffle the odd mince pie. But, this year, why not go for some options that are better for you, and commit to sourcing your seasonal treats responsibly?
